What are AP Courses?

AP Courses

Learn about our proposal and what makes us unique.

Advanced Placement (AP) courses are university-level subjects taught in high school by schools approved by the U.S. College Board.

AP Courses allow students to:

  • 🧩Access advanced content with high academic rigor.
  • 🌎Strengthen their admission profile for universities in the U.S., Canada, the UK, Europe, Australia and beyond.
  • 📑Take an official exam that, if passed with a high score, allows students to earn university credits or receive exemption from introductory courses.

The AP courses offered by Via Talentum Academy have been formally audited and approved by the College Board, ensuring they meet the academic, methodological and curricular standards of this international organization.

AP Courses

VTA U-Path offers the following AP courses 100% online.

Estimated Dedication and Workload

Placeholder

AP courses are as rigorous as university courses; therefore, students need to understand the dedication required to succeed.

  • An average dedication of 5–7 hours per week per AP course is recommended.
  • This includes reviewing lessons, reading, completing exercises and participating in simulations or assessments.
  • One hour per day from Monday to Friday is ideal, although students may adjust their pace as long as they remain consistent.

Additionally, as courses are entirely in English and asynchronous, they require a high degree of autonomy, self-regulation and strong reading comprehension skills.

AP Exams and Associated Costs

Placeholder

AP exams are held in person or online each May at centers authorized by the College Board.

Via Talentum Academy helps each student register at the exam center nearest to their residence.

VTA does not directly administer these exams nor participate in their supervision.

Important considerations:

  • Enrollment and payment for the AP exam are made directly to the College Board or the corresponding authorized center.
  • The exam fee is determined annually by College Board and is not included in VTA or VTA-UPath tuition.
  • A student can enroll in and complete an AP course at VTA without taking the official exam and still receive recognized academic credit.
